The Octarine Accord and Podastery, LLC are thrilled to announce non-equity auditions for the world premiere production of Midnight High by Beau York! This immersive theatre production will be directed by Andrew Roblyer, founder and Artistic Director of The Octarine Accord, with tech and performances September 29th through October 26th, 2025, at the Midtown Arts and Theatre Center Houston (MATCH), in Matchbox 1.
SYNOPSIS
Step into Midnight High, an immersive theatrical experience that presents dark western noir with celestial stakes. At The Oxhead Saloon, tensions run high between the Townsfolk and the mysterious new settlers known as The Others. As audience members interact with the characters and explore the set, they’ll uncover secrets, alliances, and the hidden truths behind the town’s enigmatic leaders. With a mix of intrigue, danger, and supernatural mystery, Midnight High invites you to bring this unique world to life.
tl;dr: …think Casablanca, in the West, with aliens.
DEVELOPMENT HISTORY
Conceived and written by Beau York, owner of Podastery, LLC, Midnight High began official development in the fall of 2019 with the planned development of a small prequel pitch version of show entitled Night at the Oxhead, also directed by Andrew Roblyer and featuring local Houston actors Magdalen Vaughn, MaryAnna Kelly, Daniel Hicks, and Tavia Brooks. With the advent of COVID, development paused until spring 2023, when the team decided to seek funding and a venue to mount the fully envisioned show. After a year of pitching and venue negotiations that ultimately fell through, Beau re-envisioned the story to accommodate a smaller space, and in January 2025, the project received a $15,000 grant through the City of Houston and the Houston Arts Alliance.
